Fostering Global Awareness and Cultural Understanding

The Clairbourn World Cultures program encourages students to see themselves as members of a diverse, interconnected world. Through the study of geography, culture, civics, and introductory world languages, students develop an appreciation for the many ways people live, learn, and communicate across the globe.
Designed for students in Grades 1-5, the World Cultures program builds the foundation for future language study while nurturing curiosity, empathy, and respect for different cultures. Students discover that understanding other people and perspectives is an essential skill for meaningful participation in an increasingly global society. After 5th grade, students move into middle school for grades 6-8 and study Spanish as part of their core curriculum.

Building a Foundation for Global Learning

Growing Global Perspectives

Learning another language begins with developing an appreciation for the people and cultures who speak it. Through engaging lessons and interactive activities, students are introduced to basic words and phrases from a variety of world languages while exploring the traditions, geography, customs, and daily lives of people around the world.

As students progress through the program, they gain a broader understanding of global communities and recognize the importance of communication, cultural awareness, and responsible citizenship.
In Grades 3 - 5, students deepen their exploration of world cultures through age-appropriate studies that expand both their cultural understanding and global awareness. Lessons encourage students to compare traditions, examine different ways of life, and recognize both the diversity and common humanity that connect people across cultures.

Students also develop an appreciation for the value of learning additional languages while building confidence using introductory vocabulary and everyday expressions in a supportive and engaging environment.

Preparing Students for a Connected World

The World Cultures program inspires students to become curious learners, thoughtful communicators, and compassionate global citizens. By encouraging respect for diverse cultures, perspectives, and languages, the program helps students develop the understanding, empathy, and openness that will serve them throughout their education and in an increasingly interconnected world.
Our World Cultures program inspires students to embrace diversity, communicate across cultures, and become thoughtful, globally minded citizens.
