Inspiring a Lifelong Love of Reading and Learning
The Clairbourn Library is the heart of our learning community, a welcoming space where students discover the joy of reading, develop strong research skills, and become thoughtful, confident learners. Guided by our Librarian, students learn to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively while cultivating curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for literature.
The library features more than 15,000 volumes, age-appropriate digital resources, and carefully curated online subscriptions that support both classroom learning and independent exploration. Through the school's intranet, students also have access to a dedicated library portal with safe, reliable resources they can use both at school and at home.
Building Strong Readers and Researchers
Beginning in the early childhood grades, students visit the library each week to enjoy read-alouds, discover new authors and genres, discuss literature, and check out books for both recreational reading and classroom projects. These experiences nurture reading comprehension, vocabulary development, critical thinking, and a genuine love of books.
As students progress through the grades, they build increasingly sophisticated research and information literacy skills. Working closely with classroom teachers, the Librarian supports curriculum-based projects by teaching students how to locate reliable sources, organize information, conduct effective research, and communicate their learning with confidence. Students also learn digital literacy skills to safely and ethically navigate technology, evaluate information for credibility, and develop critical problem-solving abilities.
Fostering a Community of Readers
The library extends learning beyond the classroom through special events and enrichment opportunities that celebrate reading and the creative process.

An annual Book Fair that encourages students to explore new books and build their personal libraries.

The California Young Reader Medal Club for Grades 4 and 5, introducing students to outstanding children's literature while fostering thoughtful discussion and a love of reading.

Visits from local and nationally recognized authors and illustrators, who inspire students by sharing their experiences as writers and artists. Through engaging, grade-level presentations, students gain insight into storytelling, character development, the writing and publishing process, illustration, and the creative journey behind every book.
