Ways to Give

By making a tax-deductible donation to Clairbourn, you will be joining with others to ensure that the great things happening in our school community continue. Annual Fund contributions directly impact and enrich the student experience. The Annual Fund is Clairbourn's most important fundraising activity of the year.
Gifts can be designated for the Annual Fund or other funds listed on this page. We welcome gifts by mail, checks, credit card, phone or online. We also welcome contributions of corporate matching gifts or donor-advised funds. Below are the different methods you can use to make donations:

  • Alumni Fund

    The Alumni Fund supports alumni activities, including reunions and other events that strengthen our alumni group.
  • Ann Pearson Humanitarian Award

    The purpose of the fund is to provide income for an annual gift to be awarded to the sixth grade student who best exemplifies the qualities of kindness, charity, tolerance, and friendship to all.
  • Beckstrom Memorial Scholarship Fund

    This fund was established through contributions from Clairbourn families and friends as a scholarship fund in memory of John Eric Beckstrom, the principal of which was to be invested for income earnings and growth and $1,000 of the annual earnings to be awarded to a student based on academic, citizenship, and athletic achievement.
  • Helping Hands Fund

    This fund was established in 2000 by the Clairbourn Families Association as a fund to provide short-term emergency financial support for any member of the Clairbourn community (family, student, teacher or staff) who is in need.
  • Heritage Fund

    This fund (formerly called the Advantage Fund) was established in 1995 through contributions from Clairbourn families and friends as a financial assistance fund for Christian Science students. The principal of the fund was to be invested with the earnings awarded to Christian Science students that have demonstrated financial need.
  • The Dr. Robert T. and Jane A. Cheatham Family Endowment for Music

    This fund was established in 2006 through contributions from the Cheatham family as an Endowment Fund that shall be used, first, for the children in the music program who need assistance in purchasing instruments, music, and/or taking music lessons, and second, to benefit the general purposes of the music program. The principal of the fund is to be invested with the earnings designated toward an expenditure that would benefit the music program.
  • Marks Family Professional Development Fund

    The Marks Family believes that teachers are essential to the success of the students. Because of this belief, the Marks Family has established the Marks Family Professional Development Fund to ensure the Clairbourn faculty has access to professional development opportunities that will keep them current in best practices and informed of new and innovative approaches that will benefit the students.
  • Nijjar Scholarship

    The scholarship is designed to recognize the fifth through seventh grade student who has demonstrated dedication, persistence, team spirit, and outstanding good sportsmanship while supporting Clairbourn School on a sports team.
  • The Price Family Literary Enrichment Endowment Fund

    This fund was established in 2012 through contributions from Elisabeth Hunt Price to provide the School with literary enrichment activities such as “Poetry Alive” or a visiting poet or author. The activities are to include an in-person visitation. The principal of the fund is to be invested with the earnings designated toward an expenditure that fits the purpose of the fund.
  • Robert W. Nafie Endowment Fund to Ensure the Continuation of Educational Excellence at Clairbourn School

    This fund was established in 2005 by the Board of Trustees through contributions from Clairbourn families and friends as an Endowment Fund to honor Dr. Nafie’s 39 years of vision and leadership as Head of School.
  • The Richard and Eric Dong Scholarship Fund for Music and the Arts

    This fund was established in 2014 through contributions from former Clairbourn students Richard and Eric Dong. It is designed to provide annual scholarships in recognition of high student achievement in the areas of music and the arts. In music, this includes vocal music, orchestral instruments, and band instruments. In the arts, this includes drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and all of the fine arts taught at Clairbourn.
  • The Scott Studenmund Award for Leadership, Commitment and Service at Clairbourn

    This fund was established in 2014 through contributions from the Studenmund family as a tribute to the memory of their son and Clairbourn alumnus, Scott Richard Studenmund, SSGT, who died in the valiant service of his country while unselfishly putting the needs and interest of others ahead of his own.

  • Wallden Memorial Scholarship

    This fund was established through contributions from Clairbourn families and friends as a scholarship fund in memory of Lola Wallden, the principal of which was to be invested for income earnings and growth and $500 of the annual earnings to be awarded to a 4th or 5th grade student who demonstrated academic commitment.

  • Donate by Check

    Make checks payable to Clairbourn School and mail to Clairbourn School, Development Office, 8400 Huntington Drive San Gabriel, CA 91775
  • Pledges

    Some people choose to make pledges in monthly or quarterly installments by check or credit card. If you wish to contribute in regular installments, please email development@clairbourn.org.
  • Matching Gifts

    Many companies offer matching programs. You can double or triple the value of your donation by using employer matching programs. Please check with your employer to find out if your contribution is eligible for a match.
  • Transfer Securities: Gifts of Stock

    We are happy to receive gifts of stock. Your broker can transfer them electronically into Clairbourn School's brokerage account.

    If you wish to give a gift of stock or securities, please contact us at development@clairbourn.org to notify us of your plans in advance.

    We will need the following information from you: your name, address, the type of stock, number of shares and approximate value, the purpose of the gift, and contact information for the broker in charge of the transfer.

    In order to ensure that your gift is accurately processed and promptly credited to you, email, fax, phone, or mail a letter telling Clairbourn that a transfer is being made. Include the type and number of shares of stock, and tell us how you wish your gift be used to support the school (i.e. the gift is for the Annual Fund, a Capital Campaign, or an Endowment).     The tax deduction that you may receive for your gift is based on the average price of the stock calculated using its high and low the date the gift is received into the Clairbourn account.
     
  • Donor-Advised Funds

    A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a type of giving program sponsored by organizations such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab, Vanguard and community foundations that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support your favorite charities.
     
    DAF’s are an increasingly effective way to streamline your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals. For more information on DAFs, click here.

  • Gifts in Kind

    If there are items that you think the school would be able to use, such as computer equipment or musical instruments, please contact the Development office.
  • Planned Giving

    Join our Legacy Circle of donors by including Clairbourn School in your estate planning. 

    You can also make provisions for Clairbourn School through trust gifts and gifts of real estate or other assets. Please email development@clairbourn.org for answers to questions relating to these gifts. For further information for your personal situation, please consult your tax adviser or attorney.
  • Auction Donations

    Clairbourn School holds a silent and live auction fundraiser every year. The proceeds helped fund the school’s library renovation, financial aid program, the middle school’s drama production, art and music classes, field trips, assemblies, and speakers. For more information about the auction, to make a monetary donation or to donate an item for the auction, please contact the Development Office.
  • Volunteering at Clairbourn

    We rely on the countless hours of volunteer work by our parents and families for an excellent Clairbourn experience. Our School is more than just academics—it is our community. The Clairbourn Families Association (CFA) is a great place to start as a volunteer.

    We are also always looking for Clairbourn alumni to come back to campus and participate in our events. We value each member of our community and the time they spend to enrich our overall Clairbourn experience. The Price Literary Endowment Fund Provides Poetry Alive to Clairbourn

Individuals with excellent presentation skills are in high demand, especially since public speaking is one of humanity's greatest fears. Poetry Alive helps students overcome self-consciousness and learn to speak and present professionally.

Majovski Motivational Assembly - African Overland Adventure

The Majovski Fund provides annual speakers to inspire our students to live their dreams. In 2019, speakers Katelyn and Chris Barnecut visited Clairbourn to share their 6 month adventure of traveling by motorcycle across the African continent in 2018.
