  • Athletics

Clairbourn's athletics program develops the coordination, agility, and sportsmanship of the students through physical education classes and after-school sports activities. Students learn skills that increase their fitness, confidence, and readiness for future athletic pursuits while promoting lifelong participation in physical activity. Students have opportunities to try many different sports throughout the year!
  • Drama

Besides the public speaking opportunities throughout the school year, students also participate in drama productions, from the second-grade Character Matters musical to the middle schoolers performing in Clairbourn’s after-school theater (CAST) and eighth-grade Winnie-the-Pooh play. There are plenty of opportunities during the year for students to showcase their work in the art show, school-wide musical performances, and drama productions.
  • Innovation Lab

At Clairbourn, we provide students with diverse experiences in technology and design thinking. In addition to core classes, our students can further their exploration in the Innovation Lab classes. Design thinking is emphasized alongside instruction in a wide range of computer applications. Besides familiarizing themselves with basic technology skills such as word processing and presentation software, students engage with 3D design, computer simulations, digital photography, coding, robotics, stop motion animation, and digital art design. The I-Lab teacher collaborates closely with classroom teachers on projects aimed at enhancing instructional objectives.
  • Library

Clairbourn’s library has over 15,00 volumes and extensive pre-filtered, age-appropriate online resources. The library program teaches students how to identify the differences between fiction and non-fiction, explores literary genres, how to use the Dewey Decimal System, and the importance of responsible digital literacy and citizenship. In addition, the library strives to introduce all students to the joys of reading and to provide a vibrant and friendly learning environment for the Clairbourn community as a whole.

  • Music

The music curriculum is designed for students to participate actively in music-making and acquire knowledge of music theory. Singing and proper instrument technique lay the foundation for music literacy, participation, and appreciation. Lower school students explore various instruments, including xylophone, ukulele, recorder, drums and other classroom percussion instruments. Fourth and fifth-grade students select a wind instrument to focus on, and sixth through eighth-grade students can join the school band.
  • Visual Arts

The visual arts program is broad, and students learn about influential artists, the elements of design and the principles of art. Projects encourage careful observation, individual expression, imagination, problem-solving, skill development, and a growth mindset.
  • World Cultures

Our World Cultures program is designed to help students see themselves as part of a larger, interconnected world. It helps prepare students not only for future language study, but also for thoughtful participation in a diverse and global society. Through a combination of geography, culture, civics, and introductory world languages, students explore how people live, learn, and connect across the globe.
