Music is an integral part of the Clairbourn experience, enriching students' academic, creative, and personal growth. Through singing, instrumental instruction, movement, listening, and performance, students develop musical skills while building confidence, discipline, collaboration, and self-expression.
Taught by dedicated music specialists in a well-equipped music classroom, the program introduces students to a wide variety of musical styles, cultures, and traditions from around the world.
Musical Growth Through the Grades
Preschool
Preschool students meet weekly with the music specialist to explore rhythm, melody, movement, singing, and creative musical play. These early experiences foster listening skills, coordination, creativity, and a joyful introduction to music.

Grades 4–5
Building on earlier musical experiences, students receive group instruction on wind instruments twice each week while continuing to deepen their understanding of music theory, technique, and ensemble performance. As they progress, students develop greater musical independence, responsibility, and collaboration.

Students participate in music classes twice each week, where they learn to sing, read basic musical notation, and play a variety of percussion, string, and wind instruments. Through active participation, students develop an understanding of rhythm, melody, harmony, and other fundamental elements of music while gaining confidence as performers.

Middle School (Grades 6–8)
Middle School students have the opportunity to continue their musical journey by participating in the Clairbourn Band as an elective. Ensemble experiences encourage students to refine their instrumental skills while developing leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to artistic excellence.

Performance Opportunities
Performance is an important part of the Clairbourn music experience. Throughout the school year, students share their learning with family and friends through the Winter Band Showcase, Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and Instrumental Concerts. These performances celebrate each student's musical growth while building confidence and stage presence.
Morning Assembly also provides opportunities for advancing musicians to perform for the Clairbourn community. These student performances not only showcase individual achievement but also inspire younger musicians by providing meaningful examples of dedication, perseverance, and growth.
Through practice, performance, and collaboration, Clairbourn's Music Program nurtures technical skill, artistic expression, and an enduring appreciation for music. Students learn that excellence is achieved one note at a time, gaining confidence and joy that extend well beyond the stage.
