Thank you for celebrating community with us!

This year’s spring concert, “Seasons of Love,” celebrated one hundred years (four hundred seasons) of care, connection, and community at Clairbourn School.

Students from junior pre-kindergarten through fifth grade performed songs centered on the four seasons, moving through the year one season at a time. In “Seasons Song,” students demonstrated their command of varied rhythms. In “Sweater Weather,” they brought humor and energy, making us all giggle. They also impressed us with a performance from Lilo & Stitch, sung in both English and Hawaiian, and accompanied by the third grade classes on their ukuleles and guitars. Along the way, they reminded us of an important message: whatever we invest in, there will come a time to harvest — we reap what we sow. Through their music, we reflected on life, community, and the world we all share. The students also amazed us with their creativity, using only their voices and body movements to recreate the sound of rain. This led into a beautiful song about the rhythm of the rain, sung in three-part harmony by the entire group. In “Seeds,” we heard a vision of a world filled with hope, peace, joy, and love.

As we reflect on the past one hundred years of Clairbourn’s service, teaching, and care for generations of students, we also recognize the strong educational foundation it has built. Most importantly, we recognize the people. We think of those, past and present, who have been part of the school: the students, families, teachers, and staff who have shared experiences, laughter, and lasting memories. Each person carries a story, a funny moment, a meaningful connection, or a friendship that began here.

The final song of the concert asked a powerful question: “How do you measure a year in a life?” Is it in minutes? There are 525,600 minutes in a year, after all. Is it in inches or miles? The song reminds us that the best way to measure a life is through love: the love we share with our families and friends, the kindness we show, and the love we receive in return.

As we reflect on our own lives and on the journey of Clairbourn School in the past one hundred years, we hope to remember, as the song so beautifully says, to measure it in love.
