Mr. Woo

Middle School Math Teacher
My educational/professional background:
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Stony Brook University, a SUNY institution in New York, where I double-majored in applied mathematics & statistics and economics. I also hold a Master of Arts in mathematics education from Teachers College, Columbia University. With more than 10 years of experience as a math educator, I am passionate about helping students develop confidence, strengthen their mathematical thinking, and discover the joy of learning mathematics.

I choose to teach at Clairbourn because:
The students and families at our school have been wonderful and an absolute delight to work with. Many of our students are genuinely motivated and eager to think critically when it comes to learning mathematics. I am continually impressed by their dedication, enthusiasm, and passion for learning, as well as their desire to challenge themselves and strive for excellence.

My favorite Clairbourn tradition is:
The end-of-year Middle School Spirit Day was a wonderful way to celebrate the school year! I’ve really enjoyed seeing the teamwork, camaraderie, and competitive spirit among our students and advisory classes. It was a fun and memorable experience that perfectly encapsulated the energy and excitement of the year!

What brings me joy is:
Spending time with my family and my wife, cheering on the Yankees, Knicks and the New York Football Giants, playing golf and softball, enjoying board games, studying mathematics, and connecting with friends and colleagues.
