Mrs. Smith

Grade 3 Teacher

My educational/professional background:
I hold a Bachelor of Arts (in French) from the University of Liverpool in England. Following an 8 year career in advertising, I went back to university whilst living in Australia and studied for a Masters of Teaching (Primary) in Sydney. For 10 years, I taught all elementary grades from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, before moving to California and joining Clairbourn School in 2022 with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.

I choose to teach at Clairbourn because:
When I walked through the school gate on my very first day, I felt like I was part of the family. Clairbourn has created a unique environment where we are all encouraged to succeed, and our successes are celebrated. Teachers collaborate with each other in order to deliver programs that are relevant and engaging, students smile when they walk into the classroom every morning and the grounds and facilities are beautiful. There is a genuine feeling of joy at Clairbourn and I am grateful to be a part of it.

My favorite Clairbourn tradition is:
The daily morning assembly. I appreciate how important it is to gain public speaking skills at a young age and the morning assembly allows every student to stand up and speak in front of an audience. The content of the assembly is always positive and uplifting, and it feels great to start the day with a motivating song!

What brings me joy is:
Seeing the smiling faces of my students as they come through the door every morning. Outside of school, I love coffee, blue sky and hiking in the great outdoors with my beautiful family.
