What is your connection/history with the school?
Both of my daughters, class of '09 and '12, attended Clairbourn and loved it!

What makes you want to serve on the Board?
Clairbourn accepts and nurtures the gifts that each child has. As a parent, I appreciated that students were always encouraged to be the best version of themselves, to challenge themselves in and outside of the classroom, to be a caring and accepting friend, and to be a giving member of a very special community. My daughters Molly ‘09 and Emily ‘12 embraced everything that Clairbourn still embodies, years after they graduated. Clairbourn was immensely instrumental in shaping who they are today, and I am most grateful for this opportunity to give back to a school and community that gave so much to my family.

What work, volunteer, passions, hobbies do you have that give you insight or skills that are helpful to the school?
I am a Pasadena native and a long-time community volunteer. Over the past 33 years, I have been involved with the Pasadena Junior League, Kidspace Circle of Friends, Pasadena Children’s Guild, and National Charity League, Pasadena. I am currently an active member of the Christ Child Society and the Pasadena Guild of Children’s Hospital, where I serve on the Board. I am a big believer in leading by example and giving back to the community.

In addition, I worked for over 15 years at a local independent, co-ed Catholic high school, serving as the Assistant to the Principal. I was involved in all facets of school life - Academics, Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, Counseling, Facilities, and Student Life.

What is your favorite Clairbourn experience/memory that exemplifies our mission of Creating Scholars and Leaders with Heart?
Both of my girls agree that Clairbourn's middle school English program taught them the life-long gift of writing. The teacher created a positive, nurturing setting where each student was encouraged to write with clarity, passion, and authenticity. In high school, my daughters were four-year members of the Writing Conservatory, and in college, writing assignments were taken on with confidence. As adults, the guidance and wisdom they learned from Clairbourn still holds true.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Clairbourn faculty and staff who consistently mentor, support, and recognize the small successes and quiet leadership in the students entrusted to their care. The school is truly a very special place for our students to learn, grow, and flourish, prepared for the next chapter.
