"Mental and Physical Strength"
Clairbourn has been like a second home to me and I know that you all have heard that one before, but it’s true. I consider my classmates my siblings, and my teachers, my second parents. When I came to Clairbourn, I didn’t think much about it.
People today take so much for granted, but if you’re like me, and you’ve had the chance to meet the people that I have, then it’s an understatement to say that this place is your home.

I have gotten to know each and every teacher here. All the teachers have had a positive influence on me over the years. All throughout my elementary years, my teachers helped me succeed and did what was needed to keep me on track. I learned so many new things that helped make me a better student, and a better person. I learned how to take my time in homework and especially on tests. I learned that finishing first on a test won’t get you a better grade, it’s the depth in your writing that will. All of the teachers taught me to be patient.

8th grade came and we were the big kids on campus. A big highlight this year for me was winning the design challenge with my friend, and by the way we were jumping around celebrating, you’d think we had just won the lottery. When you’re in 8th grade, people look up to you, and that should mean that you have learned and are doing something right. At Clairbourn, we have the code of Ethics: Honesty, Respect, Spirituality, Responsibility, and Citizenship. All of these elements are key factors to what makes Clairbourn great. I have learned all of them, and I will work hard to bring them with me to high school.

Over the years I have developed a sense of both mental and physical strength during both sports and studies. For sports I have learned to practice the correct and most efficient fundamentals. I have learned that staying healthy and safe is important. While in school, I have learned that practicing makes me better at what I do. Also I have been taught to be really careful and not take the easy way out.

On the Clairbourn crest it says “Verite Sans Peur” which translates to “Truth without Fear”. It means, say the truth, only the truth, without worry of what might come after, because honesty can take you places that lies can’t. Honesty helps you be strong and make better choices in the first place.

I have faced many challenges both in sports and academics and I have persevered. I have grown academically and socially, and developed strong skills that I will use next year, and I am confident that I am capable and ready to move on to high school. I would like to thank my parents. They have sent me to such a great school, paid my tuition, and most importantly they have pushed me to be a better person every day.
