Middle School Merit Scholarships

For New Students Entering Grades 6-8
 
 Opportunity Awaits!
Middle School Merit Scholarship recipients enrich the life of our school. These scholarships are designed to provide opportunities for new middle school students to have access to an amazing education, prepare students to enter the best area high schools, and promote the diversity of our school. Clairbourn seeks outstanding middle school students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their elementary years and outstanding citizenship and service to their community. To that end, Clairbourn is offering a limited number of merit scholarships to new students that meet the following criteria.

Eligibility & Requirements
  1. Qualified applicants will have exceptional grades, outstanding citizenship, teacher recommendations, and ISEE test scores*, along with extracurricular or community service activities. 
    (*ISEE test is administered at Clairbourn)
     
  2. All applicants must submit a regular Clairbourn School application in addition to submitting the Merit Scholarship application. 
    (If a waiver is needed for the $75 Application Fee to Clairbourn School, please email your request to our Admissions Director, Janna Hawes at jhawes@clairbourn.org.)

  3. The Merit Scholarship Application requires a student-written essay (submitted through the application form).

  4. The Merit Scholarship Application also requires that you attach a character reference letter from a non-family member.

  5. Merit Scholarships are for new students only, applying for grades 6-8.

  6. The Merit Scholarship Program is open as of 07/06/2018, and only those applying to Clairbourn after this date may apply for a Merit Scholarship.
There are two groups of scholarships awards*
*Merit Scholarships can be combined with Tuition Assistance based on demonstrated need.

Group 1 - Open to all students
(Students with the highest demonstrated qualifications will be eligible for the highest amount of merit scholarship.)

President's Middle School Merit Scholarship - $7,500 Tuition Credit
Founder's Middle School Merit Scholarship - $5,000 Tuition Credit
Trustees Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 Tuition Credit
 
Group 2 - Must be a resident & public school student in one of these cities.
(Students with the highest demonstrated qualifications will be eligible for the highest amount of merit scholarship.)

Altadena Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 up to $7,500 Tuition Credit
Arcadia Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 up to $7,500 Tuition Credit
La Canada Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 up to $7,500 Tuition Credit
Monrovia Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 up to $7,500 Tuition Credit
Pasadena Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 up to $7,500 Tuition Credit
San Gabriel Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 up to $7,500 Tuition Credit
San Marino Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 up to $7,500 Tuition Credit
Sierra Madre Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 up to $7,500 Tuition Credit
South Pasadena Middle School Merit Scholarship - $2,500 up to $7,500 Tuition Credit
 
Additional Information
  • Applications are due before Friday, August 24, 2018.

  • Candidates who receive a Notice of Acceptance letter from Clairbourn School will also be notified in the same packet of the results of their Merit Scholarship application.

  • Scholarships are renewable through 8th grade, provided that all expectations, which originally qualified them for the scholarship, are maintained (citizenship, academic achievement, and service to the community).

  • The scholarship award will take the form of a tuition credit at one of the three Merit Scholarship levels.
