Kindergarten
  • Sing and move to music
  • Use instruments to experience music and explore musical elements
  • Listen and respond to music
  • Improvise and experiment with sound
First Grade
  • Sing, on pitch and expressively, a varied repertoire of music
  • Perform on instruments, independently and with others, a varied repertoire of music incorporating a variety of musical elements
  • Listen to, describe, and analyze music
  • Increase notation skills and music vocabulary
Second Grade
  • Sing, using given dynamics and phrasing, a varied repertoire of music
  • Perform on pitched and unpitched instruments using given dynamics
  • Read and notate simple music, and increase music vocabulary
  • Listen to, describe, and analyze music
  • Perform pieces from other cultures
Third Grade
  • Sing, using proper diction, posture, breathing, and phrasing, a varied repertoire of music
  • Perform on pitched and unpitched instruments, including playing independent/contrasting parts
  • Improvise melodies and variations
