Gratitude and Grandparents

A New Format For Celebrating Those Important To Our Students

We have made a change in the school calendar by moving Grandparents Visiting Day to November instead of having it right before Spring Break. The purpose of this visiting day is to note and celebrate the special importance that grandparents play in the life of our students.  We feel this new timing will help focus gratitude on grandparents to honor all that they doboth for our students and for our school.

This year, Grandparents Visiting Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 22nd.  As usual, it will be a half-day of school and a dress-uniform day.  But the new twist is, we are having this in conjunction with the school’s annual Thanksgiving Service from 8:15 to 9:00 a.m. At this service, grandparents will experience individual grades offering poems, songs, and readings appropriate to the occasion to express gratitude for blessings.

Following the Thanksgiving Service, grandparents may attend their grandchildren's classes, meet other grandparents, and enjoy some light refreshments.  Many of the classrooms will have special presentations and activities designed for the day. Students will adjourn for the Thanksgiving recess at 11:45 a.m. (JPK-K only) or at noon for grades 1-8.

I hope you will help us to invite all grandparents, or a special family member/friend who can stand-in, to this special combination of Grandparents Visiting Day and the Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday morning, November 22nd.
